Text Box: BUILDING PIPELINE CORROSION SERVICES Our services include the corrosion protection, corrosion monitoring, and corrosion assessment of numerous building systems including: hot water boiler systems, condensate return tanks, fire water systems, drainage piping, and steam/chilled lines. For boiler heating systems, the water/steam used can become very corrosive attacking the interior pipe wall if left untreated. Fortunately, there are a number of steps that can be taken to correct this problem. The primary step is to test, monitor, and treat the water to control the pH from becoming acidic. There are a number of additives that can be used to control this. There are also systems that help clean the water and remove the corrosive minerals or gases. Once the corrosion protection system has been established, coupons can be inserted to monitor the corrosion rates by observing any metal loss on the specialized standardized coupon. In addition cathodic protection anodes can be added to hot water tanks and condensate return tanks to reduce or prevent the internal steel tank corrosion. Our services also include ultra-sonic thickness (UT) testing to determine the thickness of the pipe wall and to locate the internal corrosion or pitting. Subsequently, any poor sections can be repaired or replaced as necessary to reduce the chance of breakage. Addition testing such as Microbiological Influenced Corrosion (MIC) inspection can be completed on low flow water systems such as fire water protection piping. Our services include testing to determine the corrosivity of the water, and treatment design and recommendations.
